Patricia Dresch lived in Tottenville with her daughter, Angela, 13 and husband George until Hurricane Sandy changed her life forever.
In August 2011, New York was hit with Hurricane Irene. The Dresch's lived a few hundred yards from the shoreline and were told to evacuate. They complied with the orders, boarding up their house and seeking shelter elsewhere until the storm passed. Once they went back to their home, they realized that instead of the storm causing damage, they were looted by a known criminal.
When warnings were sent out to again evacuate due to impending Hurricane Sandy, the Dresch's made the decision to stay in their house so they would not be robbed yet again. That decision cost George and Angela their lives and left Patricia critically injured.
Patricia is now left to start over from scratch. Hurricane Sandy left her house devastated and unlivable. She is temporarily staying with family friends, but needs to find an apartment as soon as possible. Since she lost all of her possessions due to the hurricane, she will need all new household items including furniture, appliances, and all the every day necessities that most people take for granted.
Please help Patricia in anyway you can. Suffering the devastation of losing her only child and husband is heartbreaking enough, but having to pick up the pieces of her life alone makes matters all the more worse. We will currently be accepting monetary donations and once she is in an apartment, we will be setting up a wish list so we can help her start her life over.
